MGemi Shoes Review (+ MGemi Coupon Code) — The Absolute Best Shoes For Travel (And Everywhere Else)

Looking for an MGemi shoe review? Or possibly you’re here hoping to find the most comfortable, stylish walking shoes for travel to bring on your next vacation? As someone who walks a lot more than the average person, both while on vacation and also while at home in San Francisco, I have tried countless amounts of options. Without a shadow of a doubt there is one shoe that stands out from the pack, and that is M. Gemi’s Palestra sneaker.

While the Palestra sneaker is the first MGemi shoe I fell in love with, I have since bought countless other pairs, all of which I absolutely adore! MGemi shoes are without a doubt the best shoes on the market, for obvious reasons which we will cover below.

Since I talk about the Palestra sneaker a lot (non-stop) on my Instagram, I get a lot of questions about them. So I’ve decided to do a dedicated post here to provide more info and answer the most common questions I get for those also interested!

MGemi Shoes Review — The Absolute Best Shoes For Travel (And Everywhere Else)

About M. Gemi

If you don’t know about M. Gemi, you are very much missing out. My mom has told me my entire life that if there’s one thing you shouldn’t skimp on, it’s shoes. So when I first heard about M. Gemi years ago I decided to give them a shot. I now own at least a dozen different shoes from them and will rarely veer away from them. They make the best walking shoes for travel.

What makes M. Gemi so special is that all of their shoes are handmade (yes, really) in small, family-owned workshops in Italy. They are luxury shoes, comparable IMO with brands whose shoes cost $800+, but accessibly priced because they sell directly to consumers on their site so there’s no big markup.

The Perfect Everyday Leather Sneaker

Like I mentioned above, I’ve tried just about every white sneaker on the market. Keds, Vans, Converse, you name it. I bring them to Europe and by end of day my foot is throbbing and there’s no chance I can manage wearing them again the following day. Fashionable walking shoes sure are hard to find! But with the Palestra sneaker it’s a whole different story. It really is the most stylish walking shoes for travel.

The walkability description on M. Gemi’s site is “never take them off” and it really is true. You can wear them all day everyday and your foot will never tire of them. This is the only shoe I’ve had that experience with. They don’t even require breaking in!

The last thing you want while traveling is for your feet to hurt in every shoe you packed. I’ve been there and the end result was a lot of wasted time and money spent shopping for new shoes. With these that will never be an issue, I can almost guarantee it!

The Palestra sneaker is handmade so they are incredibly durable. Cheap sneakers will have the top part glued to the bottom but not these — they are hand sewn to the bottom rubber sole.

The upper is made of rich, artisan-treated leather — the best of the best. You can easily clean them (I just wipe mine clean with water) and after over a year of nonstop wear mine still basically perfect.

In addition to being the best travel sneakers in terms of comfort, they’re also the most beautiful sneakers I’ve ever seen. I personally own and love the white but there are sometimes other color options depending on time of year.

Versatility is hugely important when traveling because the less you can pack the better and these definitely meet the mark there as well. You can wear them with dresses, skirts, pants, shorts, leggings — literally anything. Prior to owning these I had never worn sneakers with a dress but something about these makes me love the look.

The Palestra sneaker costs $248 currently and is worth every penny and more (truly). Plus with my code 'CHRISTIE60' you get $60 off your first purchase.

They also make an excellent gift; I’ve had a few of my male followers buy them for their wives or girlfriends and it has been a hit every time! Who wouldn’t want handmade Italian sneakers?!

Side note: you will need a good pair of no-show socks to wear with these! Click here for the ones I swear by.

The Palestra Alta

There’s also a newer platform version if you want a little bit of height! I own them too and these are the ones I’ve been primarily wearing for the last 6+ months. Click here to check availability.

The Cerchio Sneaker

Another popular MGemi shoe option is the Cerchio sneaker. It’s similar to the Palestra except it’s woven and in a slip-on style! Refinery29 apparently named it "the slip-on sneakers literally everyone wants" which comes as no surprise to me.

In addition to white, it currently comes in 7 other color options. After 123 reviews it has a 4.8 out of 5 rating which speaks for itself really!

Like the Palestra, these are one of the most popular MGemi shoes which means they sell out often. If you find them in stock, I would recommend grabbing them while you can.

Other M. gemi Recommendations

As I mentioned, I love all M. Gemi shoes in general and own at least a dozen (maybe two?) pairs. So if you want some other options or need additional choices for when you fall in love with the above mentioned pair, let’s go over a few of my other favorites.

The Ravenna Boot

My latest favorites are these everyday mid-heel booties they just released. I don’t own them (yet) but I do own more pairs of their boots than I can count and I absolutely live in them in the fall and winter.

They are handmade in Tuscany, Italy from distressed Tuscan suede. They have a bit of a heel - 1.8 inches - but not too much to ruin the walkability. Perfect for all day wear!

On the side there is an elastic panel for added flexibility and in back a pull tab to help you get them on with ease. Currently they come in black, tan, and that beautiful sandstone color you see above.

Only 300 pairs were made so run don’t walk! Click here to check availability and get yours.

The Cristina Boot

They also just brought back another favorite boot style of mine, the Cristina! I have them in black from a previous year’s version and I reach for them more than any other boot of mine. I especially love that they can be dressed up or down. Click here to check those out.

The Alpi Boot

Another boot that just made a re-appearance is the Alpi boot! I’ve had these at the top of my list every year — I only haven’t bought them because I live in Texas and don’t have a need at the moment. But the second I book a trip back to Switzerland or Banff (or anywhere snowy) they’re all mine.

The Alpi is a fan favorite winter lug sole boot with a shearling collar. They feature hiking hooks to ensure a snug fit and also help enhance the rugged look of them. Every year they sell out so I think it’s safe to say you can’t go wrong! Click here for more information.

The Liliana Boot

For something more casual, I love the Liliana boot. It has a large rubber sole that they say is incredibly lightweight, leather-covered elastic, and pairs perfectly with anything — pants, skirts, dresses, etc. Click here to check availability.

If you’re in the market for heels, there are so many great options at M. Gemi. Especially considering the fact that they are handmade so they will be dramatically more comfortable than other heels.

For an everyday standard pump, go for the Esatto. It comes in two different heights — 90mm (about 3.5 inches) and a shorter 70mm (about 2.75 inches) version. I have the 90mm in black and love them.

Click here to check those out.

If you prefer a block heel, you’ll love the Lustro. Click here for the 90mm Lustros and here for 70mm.

On the shorter side, there’s a new slingback pointed heel style that is beautiful. Click here for those.

M.Gemi also has plenty of flats options, including the Gia:

The Pastoso:
