The Most Comfortable Stylish Walking Shoes for Travel
Looking for the most comfortable stylish walking shoes for travel to bring on your next vacation? As someone who walks a lot more than the average person, both while on vacation and also while at home in San Francisco, I have tried countless amounts of options. Without a shadow of a doubt there is one shoe that stands out from the pack, and that is M. Gemi’s Palestra sneaker.
Since I talk about these a lot (non-stop) on my Instagram I get a lot of questions about them. So I’ve decided to do a dedicated post here to provide more info and answer the most common questions I get for those also interested!
The Most Comfortable Stylish Walking Shoes For Travel:
About M. Gemi
If you don’t know about M. Gemi, you are very much missing out. My mom has told me my entire life that if there’s one thing you shouldn’t skimp on, it’s shoes. So when I first heard about M. Gemi years ago I decided to give them a shot. I now own at least a dozen different shoes from them and will rarely veer away from them. They make the best walking shoes for travel.
What makes M. Gemi so special is that all of their shoes are handmade (yes, really) in small, family-owned workshops in Italy. They are luxury shoes, comparable IMO with brands whose shoes cost $800+, but accessibly priced because they sell directly to consumers on their site so there’s no big markup.
Their designs are limited edition, released every Monday at 10am ET. Fortunately some of the styles are such a hit (the Palestra included) that they’ve decided to bring them back time and time again… for now, at least. They offer complimentary shipping and returns as well so there’s really no reason not to give them a shot.
The Perfect Everyday Leather Sneaker
Like I mentioned above, I’ve tried just about every white sneaker on the market. Keds, Vans, Converse, you name it. I bring them to Europe and by end of day my foot is throbbing and there’s no chance I can manage wearing them again the following day. Fashionable walking shoes sure are hard to find! But with the Palestra sneaker it’s a whole different story. It really is the most stylish walking shoes for travel.
The walkability description on M. Gemi’s site is “never take them off” and it really is true. You can wear them all day everyday and your foot will never tire of them. This is the only shoe I’ve had that experience with. They don’t even require breaking in!
The last thing you want while traveling is for your feet to hurt in every shoe you packed. I’ve been there and the end result was a lot of wasted time and money spent shopping for new shoes. With these that will never be an issue, I can almost guarantee it!
They are handmade so they are incredibly durable. Cheap sneakers will have the top part glued to the bottom but not these — they are hand sewn to the bottom rubber sole.
The upper is made of rich, artisan-treated leather — the best of the best. You can easily clean them (I just wipe mine clean with water) and after over a year of nonstop wear mine still basically perfect.
In addition to being the best travel sneakers in terms of comfort, they’re also the most beautiful sneakers I’ve ever seen, with gold metal eyelets and a handful of different color options. I personally own and love the white but there are also others which differ depending on time of year. Currently they come in white, gray, or navy.
Versatility is hugely important when traveling because the less you can pack the better and these definitely meet the mark there as well. You can wear them with dresses, skirts, jeans, leggings — literally anything. Prior to owning these I had never worn sneakers with a dress but something about these makes me love the look.
The Palestra sneaker costs $228 and is worth every penny and more (truly). They also make an excellent gift; I’ve had a few of my male followers buy them for their wives or girlfriends and it has been a hit every time! Who wouldn’t want the most comfortable stylish shoes for travel?!
Other Comfortable Stylish Walking Shoes for Travel
As I mentioned, I love all M. Gemi shoes in general and own at least a dozen pairs. So if you want some other options or need additional choices for when you fall in love with the above mentioned pair, let’s go over a few of my other favorites.
M. Gemi just released a more minimalistic version of my favorite Palestra sneakers, the Palestra Minimo! It’s a pared-down version with less details which basically means no gold eyelets. It’s available in more color options and is less expensive so it seems like a great deal to me.
Another option for best travel sneakers is this pair of slip-ons, the Cherico. They are woven (by hand, of course) and currently available in eight beautiful colors. Their walkability is rated all-day ease and I love the slip-on silhouette because what could possibly be more low maintenance than that?!
Along the same lines as the Palestra, they will go with anything - shorts, jeans, skirts, dresses, etc. - which is yet another reason they are the perfect accessory for any trip. The only potential problem here is that they sell out regularly so get them while you can!
It can be hard to find stylish walking boots, especially when they have a heel, but these Corsa boots fit the bill! The Corsa is another M. Gemi shoe I die for and highly recommend, especially for travel. This is because they are incredibly versatile and can be easily worn with pants or dresses.
Fellow short girls like me will appreciate the heel which at 2.15” is perfect. So perfect that the walkability rating for them is also all-day ease! The unanimous 5-star rating after almost 100 reviews says it all though, really.
I own these in black suede and have my eyes on the mocha suede, too!
In the best travel flats department, M. Gemi’s the Stellato gets my vote. I had my eye on these for at least a year before M. Gemi sent them to me recently.
The verdict? I love them! I don’t normally wear flats because for something that is supposed to be comfortable I find them to be quite the opposite. But these are different. They were comfy right off the bat and so far haven’t required any breaking in at all. If you’re looking for comfortable flats I highly recommend these.
The Stellato comes in a leather in nude or black as well as a suede with nine color options. I could not for the life of me decide between a pink suede pair I had wanted for longer than I can remember and the nude leather. Eventually I concluded that the nude leather would be best because leather is easier to clean and keep clean, nude goes with everything which makes it versatile, and a nude flat makes your legs look longer than they are.
In addition to traveling they’re great everyday shoes in general and even perfect for work!
While I don’t personally find any heels to be the most comfortable walking shoes, there are sometimes a need for them while traveling. If you need comfortable shoes for standing all day, these are as close as you’re ever going to get! The Lustro heel comes in two heel heights - 70mm (2.8”) or the original 90mm (3.5”).
The 70mm surprisingly has a walkability rating of all-day ease, stating that the “proportions of the block heel shape makes these pumps surprisingly walkable“. Pretty AND practical! Perfect for all of your fancy dinners on the road.
