The Best Linen Bedding

After almost two years of searching for linen bedding I love, I’ve finally found the perfect combo! While my Peacock Alley Soprano sheets will forever be my ride or die (read: My All White Luxury Bed Bedding Details), the linen set I’ve come up with is a great alternative. So great, in fact, that I find myself looking forward to rotating back to it — something I’ve never had with any other bedding (mostly because the Soprano sheets are that good).

If you’re on the hunt for a linen set and want to save yourself the headache of buying and returning over and over and over, here’s what you need!

The Best Linen Bedding

As mentioned in my most recent bedding blog post, I am incredibly picky about bedding. My mom has been in the luxury linen industry for the majority of my life so I’ve had access to some of the best bedding in the world since I was a kid. But I also didn’t want to spend a fortune since it’s not my primary set of bedding and because I’ve been spending an arm and a leg fully furnishing my new Austin apartment from scratch.

So to start I got the Washed Linen Sheet Set from Peacock Alley. After spending the majority of my life sleeping almost solely on Peacock Alley bedding, I know you can’t go wrong with anything from them. Linen is generally very expensive but this set, especially from a brand like Peacock Alley, is incredibly affordable.

The set includes one fitted sheet, one flat sheet, and two pillowcases. It is 100% linen and gets softer with each wash. As one of the reviews also states, they are the softest linen sheets I’ve ever slept on!

Since your skin touches your pillow and both sheets while sleeping, I think this is the most important part of your purchase. That’s why I went directly to Peacock Alley.

Because a duvet cover and decorative pillow cases physically touch your skin less, I thought those would be a logical place to try to save some money. On the hunt for a duvet cover I tried countless options from both Target and Amazon. So many of them sounded great (100% linen! so soft! great quality!) but in reality every one of them was absolutely terrible. And they didn’t just feel terrible, but they even looked terrible. Which, by the way, is half the reason I love linen bedding — because of how it looks.

As I mentioned in my blog post about the best affordable home decor from H&M Home (definitely give that a read if you haven’t already), I am not a fan of H&M from a clothing standpoint. But somewhere along the way I discovered H&M Home, the home decor side of the brand, and fell in love. I’d even estimate that the majority of my decor is from them.

One day while scrolling their new arrivals (which I do constantly since things sell out so dang quickly), I came across a linen duvet cover set. Upon clicking into it I realized it wasn’t actually a new arrival, but a restock, since it had over 300 reviews. I loved the look of it — relaxed, textured, low maintenance, lived in vibes all around — so I started paging through the reviews.

To my surprise they were absolutely glowing. I think the only somewhat negative ones I could find were people complaining about wanting to buy more and it never being in stock. I immediately placed an order, set my expectations very low, and waited.

The verdict? It’s absolutely amazing. For the price I’m convinced it’s the best linen bedding you can find anywhere. It’s so incredibly soft right from the start and is beyond beautiful visually. I honestly won’t shut up about it to people because I can’t believe it.

It also happens to come in what might be the best color options I’ve found anywhere, especially if you are a neutrals lover like I am. The color options come and go often (again, things sell out crazy fast) but based on what’s in stock at this moment I love the white, gray, light gray, taupe, light taupe, black, powder beige, and mocha beige. Catch the green one in stock? Grab it while you can. Almost all of the options are great for women or men and I really don’t think you can go wrong with whatever you decide.

And, in case all of that is not good enough, in addition to the duvet cover the set comes with two pillow shams. Those are the fancier version of pillowcases — the ones you’ll want to have displayed instead of hidden in the back or bottom. Since the Peacock Alley set comes with pillow cases, this’ll get you everything you need (minus some Euro pillow shams, perhaps)!

For my duvet insert, I use a Peacock Alley down duvet. I also have their down alternative duvet which is nice if you are sensitive to down. I like the warmth and the fluffiness of the down so I tend to gravitate more towards that one though.

Last but not least, I have two Euro pillows on my bed between my pillow cases and pillow shams. Those I got at Target. Click here to check them out. Plus a textured lumbar pillow, also from Target, which you can see here.
