The Best Affordable Home Decor From H&M Home

Since moving to Austin and fully furnishing my apartment from scratch I’ve tested out more home decor brands than I can count. Along the way there’s been lots of hits and even more misses, usually with a mixture of both from each site I try.

From a clothing standpoint, I have never been a fan of H&M. There’s a few items in my closet from them at most and I’m almost always disappointed in the poor quality when I try to give it another shot.

So you can imagine my complete and shock upon discovering that H&M Home, the home decor side of the H&M brand, is amazing. Truly! It’s one of the main places I have bought and continue to buy my decor from and I think I’ve yet to return a single item (unlike Target, Amazon, and Wayfair where I return more than I keep).

The one and only downside is that things sell out quickly and consistently, making it hard for me to create this post. I’ve tried numerous times and within hours all of the good stuff is gone, no joke!

But as of this moment there’s more than usual in stock - including some items that are almost never available like this linen duvet cover set, this round marble tray, this ceramic vase, and this beautiful mango wood box - so I spent all day rushing to complete this for y’all. I even broke it all down into the different categories I can’t get enough of to make it easier to digest. If you like the look of my apartment, I recommend buying from each!

The Best Affordable Home Decor From H&M Home

MANGO WOOD

As someone who lives for black, white, and cement colored anything, I’m always on the lookout for good wooden pieces. I find that it adds so much warmth and has the ability to soften your space, keeping it from looking too industrial.

Real wood pieces can also be quite expensive, though — I think my wooden dining table is the most expensive piece in my apartment. Which is why I love all of H&M Home’s mango wood pieces. They’re real wood but because they’re generally on the smaller side they’re incredibly affordable.

For example: this wooden tray for $5.99. I have three or four of those throughout my apartment to hold my keys, my jewelry, act as shelf decor, etc. Very highly recommend!

There’s a handful of other boxes and trays too, along with kitchen items like serving boards and cutting boards. I have some of their older versions of both and they’re so pretty I don’t even put them away — they live permanently on my kitchen counter to help warm up my white tile + black counter combo.

WOODEN FRAMES

On a similar note, H&M Home has the best wooden frames. I have an almost excessive amount of frames around my house and these H&M ones are by far the best. The “light beige” wood color (click here) is especially beautiful. If it’s still in stock when you’re reading this, grab it while you can!

LINEN

As mentioned in my most recent bedding blog post, I am incredibly picky about bedding. My mom has been. in the luxury linen industry for the majority of my life so I’ve had access to some of the best bedding in the world since I was a kid.

After moving I was on the hunt for a linen duvet cover but wanted to save some money so I went cheap, starting with Target and Amazon. Many buys and returns later, I noticed this linen duvet cover set come back in stock at H&M. After reading through many of the 300+ glowing reviews I decided to give it a shot, immediately fell in love, and now I won’t shut up about it. For the price I’m convinced it’s the best linen bedding you can find anywhere.

It comes in so many beautiful colors, making the hardest decision which one to get. I have to constantly remind myself I don’t need anymore bedding because I always want to buy it in more colors. Click here to see which are currently available.

I also have many of these washed linen cushion covers which are great and inexpensive. Beautiful color options, too!

I just bought a few of these textured linen placements and next up I’ll be buying this stunning linen tablecloth.

STONEWARE

Y’all know I love stoneware and H&M Home has stoneware galore. There’s vases, candlesticks, plates, bowls, cups, soap dispensers, and more!

My current favorite stoneware pieces:

SCULPTURES

Another thing I love at H&M Home is the sculptures or items like vases and candles that look like sculptures! They’re an easy way to add an interesting three dimensional element to your shelves and/or countertops.

I tend to be primarily drawn to more classical types of sculptures, usually representing a human figure in some way, which is often what H&M carries the most of!

MARBLE

The marble pieces at H&M Home are another category of items that never, ever disappoint me. I’ve found that marble pieces at most places, Amazon and Target especially, can be super hit or miss, while H&M’s are always above and beyond what I expect.

My favorite piece is this round marble tray. I have it in two colors so far and will likely buy a third once this new gray colored option becomes available.

It is 100% real stone so it’s incredibly heavy duty and looks a million times more expensive than it is. I move them around sometimes because they’re so versatile but currently I have one on my bathroom counter holding my most used skincare products and another on my tv console holding a candle and some palo santo.

They’re running a little low on their marble options currently, but here’s what I’m loving right now:

TASSELS

This one is weird, I know, especially since I normally don’t like anything tasseled. I can’t explain why but at H&M Home it’s different.

My main tasseled squeeze (weirdest thing I’ve ever said here?) is this cushion cover which lives on an accent chair in my living room. I also have this rectangular one.

It’s not just cushion covers I loved tasseled, there’s also this beautiful blanket, these hand towels, and this bath mat.

CANDLES

Candles are yet another category H&M Home excels at. A lot of them are more like works of art than they are boring candles, and with how quickly everything sells out I actually rarely burn these. That’s what Target candles are for!

VASES

Last but not least, vases! As with most H&M Home things, their vases are generally so lovely you can use them to hold flowers or display them all on their own as a piece of art.

If you follow me on Instagram you already know that this ceramic vase is something I never shut up about. I’m constantly sharing that it’s back in stock because it’s constantly selling out of stock on their site. Luckily it’s a best seller so they keep bringing it back, but you never know when that will stop! So grab it while you can.

I also have this stoneware vase that is more sculptured art piece than vase, along with this similar one.

There’s also a handful more H&M Home vases scattered throughout my place, similar to this one currently in stock and this one. Not to sound like a broken record but everything sells out crazy fast and sometimes doesn’t return so if you like something buy it ASAP!

I hope that helps! And I hope you give H&M Home a shot if you haven’t already.
