Italy Vacation Outfit Ideas

What to Wear in Italy Summer

SHOES

The most important packing item when heading to Italy, in my opinion, is your shoes. You’ll likely be doing a lot of walking so you want to make sure they are incredibly comfortable and durable. I also make sure to pack shoes that are extremely versatile so that I can wear them with basically any outfit in my bag.

Here is what I recommend (and also what I own and bring on my trips). Watch the video for more details but I recommend packing 3-4 pairs.

@ckanani Replying to @kwood220 the best shoes for Europe trip/ for walking in Europe! If you bring 3-4 of these recommendations they will go with all your Italy vacation outfits and your feet will never hurt. They’re IMO the best travel shoes for Italy + are Italy packing essentials. #italypacking #europepacking #shoesfortravel #italyoutfits #italyoutfitinspo #travelessentials #travelmusthaves #travelshoes

You can shop them all here (and don’t forget you can use code “CHRISTIE60” for $60 off at M. Gemi!):

CLOTHES

When I’m heading to Italy I pack primarily dresses because they don’t take up much space are easy to throw on and go. They’re also incredibly comfortable and look great! I love two piece sets and jumpsuits when I can find good ones.

Here is where I buy them from, along with some recommendations from each place.

Reformation

The number one place I get clothes from, both for Europe and for at home, is Reformation. It’s on the pricier side but their clothes hold up very well, are incredibly cute, and the brand has high standards for sustainability.

I personally stay away from their silk items as I don’t find silk travels well at all. Instead, go for the linen or viscose items, or the knit ones! They’re fantastic.

Reformation at Nordstrom

Lulus

Lulus is another place a large amount of my outfits are from. It’s incredibly affordable while still being great quality. I don’t think I’ve ever gotten a single item from Lulus that I did not love. It’s the perfect place to get Italy outfits from.

Here are my top picks for what to wear in Italy, many of which I own myself:

Few Moda

Few Moda allows you save up to 70% off retail, from the world’s finest manufacturers of brands like Reformation, Alice + Olivia, Faithfull the Brand, Zimmermann, Mara Hoffman, HALSTON, and more. They have the best dresses for Italy at the most affordable prices possible!

Here’s what you need:

Princess Polly

Princess Polly is another great place to get cute sundresses and other items for summer in Europe.

Here are my top picks from them currently:

Abercrombie

Another store I am constantly placing orders at is Abercrombie. They have made such a comeback in recent years and have so many great items always.

Right now they’re running heavy on linen items, which is great for summer and especially for Italy! So chic and versatile.

Here are my current favorite items for summer in Italy:

Target

Target has soo many great things this year! Especially for Italy. Two piece sets, affordable linen pieces, adorable dresses, and more.

Amazon

Amazon is such a quick and easy place to get items from, especially with their two day shipping. I have a ton of clothing items from here that I wear constantly and I’m always checking their best sellers list to find new items to purchase.

Here’s what you need for your trip to Italy:

Revolve

Revolve has great stuff in general, but especially for holiday! I love how many bright, summery options they have.

Here is what I recommend for your trip to Positano:

Showpo

Vici

Vici has lots of great affordable stuff that is perfect for Italy! I especially love the bright summery colors they have currently. I love orange especially for the Amalfi Coast.

Resa

Workout Dress

I highly recommend bringing a workout dress with you on your trip, too! They are perfect for hot travel days because they’re moisture wicking and designed to hide sweat. Because they have attached shorts, you don’t have to worry about accidentally flashing anyone when you’re frantically grabbing luggage, walking up a ferry ramp, or dealing with wind.

Workout dresses also generally pretty thin, making them easy to fit in your luggage. You can even hop in the water in one if needed! Plus they’re incredibly comfortable and cute. The perfect Italian summer outfit.

I own so many different ones and love them all. Here are a few of my favorite workout dresses:

Travel Wrap/Scarf

I never, ever travel without a travel wrap. I cannot tell you how many times it has saved me on cold flights, restaurants, ferries, etc. It’s been one of the top sellers on my blog for years because it is so, so good!

Jackets + Sweaters

Swimwear

Coverups

Bags

For bags I brought three different ones, which I also recommend for you!

YSL CAMERA BAG — This YSL camera bag is absolutely perfect for travel. I love that it’s crossbody so it is completely handsfree. It’s perfectly transitional from day to night - you can wear it any time of day and easily dress it up or down. And it’s the perfect size, fitting all of the things you need to carry for the day whether it be a camera, a water bottle, etc. in addition to all the normal essentials.

Click here for the one I have and recommend.

CASUAL BELT BAG/CROSSBODY BAG — On more casual days where you don’t feel a need to bring a designer bag with you, I recommend a belt bag or a more casual crossbody bag. I have a few different recommendations!

One of my favorite purchases ever is this Lululemon belt bag. I have it in at least three different colors and am always using it. I love that you can wear it either as a belt bag or, my preferred way, as a crossbody bag. It’s a cult favorite and almost always sold out so if you’re able to find it in stock, grab it!

If that’s sold out or you just want a less expensive but almost identical option from Amazon, click here.

The bag I brought on my last Positano trip was this TikTok viral Uniqlo bag. My friend Diana raved about it, convincing me to buy one when I got to Barcelona, and I was so glad I did. It fits a surprising amount of items and was the perfect day bag for me while traveling Europe.

TOTE BAG — I always travel with a tote bag of some kind for days I need a larger day bag. For example, boating days, beach days, etc. For Positano or Italy in general, I recommend these incredibly cute and high quality canvas bags my friend Diana makes! They fit so much yet take up so little space when you are packing.

Other bags I absolutely love for Italy:

Sunglasses

Hats

Jewlery

Shoes

M. Gemi is my absolute favorite company to buy shoes from, especially for travel, since they are handmade! Nothing beats them.

Don’t forget to use code “CHRISTIE60” when you buy your first pair.
