When it comes to where to stay in Capri, J. K. Place makes the top of our list! J. K. Place is a 5 star hotel overlooking the sea, 100 feet from Marina Grande beach and just .6 miles from the famous Piazzetta. Location-wise it’s about as perfect as it gets when it comes to 5 star hotels in Capri!

J. K. Place has an outdoor pool with panoramic views of the gulf, free breakfast and Wi-Fi, a spa, and numerous dining options. JKitchen, their main restaurant, serves traditional Mediterranean cuisine. Their Lounge Bar is on a scenic terrace and has an extensive cocktail menu along with some tapas and light bites.

In addition to all of the above, there’s also a spa offering a variety of services, and a gym. The gym, in part, is outdoors overlooking the pool!

J. K. Place is hands down one of the best hotels Capri Italy, if not the best. The reviews speak for themselves, really, with a 9.8 “exceptional” rating on Booking.com and 4.8/5 on Google.

Capri Palace Jumeirah

Capri Palace Jumeirah is a luxury hotel and spa located on the Anacapri part of the island. As far as 5 star hotels in Capri go, this is one of the best options.

It’s especially great if you are interested in having great dining options onsite. L’Olivo, their Two Michelin Star restaurant, is very highly regarded. It features creative Italian food by Executive Chef Andrea Migliaccio from nearby Ischia.

Il Riccio is their cliffside restaurant overlooking the Blue Grotto. The terrace is at their Bar degli Artisti is an ideal spot for an evening aperitivo, and their Bistrot Ragu offers casual dining on a terrace overlooking the gulf.

Aside from food, there are 68 guestrooms that are some of the prettiest I have come across. Their site describes them as a mixture of understated luxury and contemporary style.

Capri Palace is also home to an award winning spa, Capri Medical Spa, offering by far the most impressive options compared to all of the places on this list. There are oxygen infused facials, age reverse facial treatments, medicated bandage treatments to promote drainage, and even medical services like blood tests, nutrition consultations, and more.

When considering where to stay Capri, Capri Palace Jumeirah is an amazing option. Here you’ll have a once-in-a-lifetime experience that you’ll remember forever.

Tiberio Palace

Next on our list of the best hotels in Capri Italy is Tiberio Palace, a 5 star hotel just steps away from the famous Piazzetta.

Each room and suite is unique and decorated different from one another. They are a bit eclectic which isn’t normally my style yet I find them to be fun and beautiful. They are HUGE too, with their Bellevue Suite totaling 2700 sq. ft. and including a fitness room inside. Crazy!

As far as food goes, the Terrazza Tiberio restaurant features panoramic views over Capri and the sea. The menu includes local Caprese items mixed with Mediterranean. There’s also an indoor kosher section of the restaurant that complies with the rules of Kosher cuisine.

Tiberio Palace is also home to a newly renovated indoor outdoor heated pool with sea-views and a “wellbeing oasis spa” with a wide variety of treatments.

Casa Morgano

Casa Morgano is one of the hotels in Capri that my local friend recommended to me. It is a 5 star hotel in Capri just outside the famous Piazzetta, in what Booking.com considers to be the best area of the island. The best place to stay in Capri? It’s a top contender, for sure!

Casa Morgano is located on Via Tragara, the same street as Belvedere Tragara, a famous scenic overlook facing the Faraglioni rock formations. It’s also just one street over from Via Camerelle, a street world famous for its luxury shops and designer boutiques.

The hotel is set in a Mediterranean garden. There’s an infinity pool on the highest level of the hotel that provides stunning panoramic views of the gulf,  the Bay of Marina Piccola and of Monte Solaro.

The rooms and suites all have large French windows opening out on to sea view terraces. It’s a small hotel, with only twenty bedrooms, so make sure to book early (as goes for all of these recommendations). There are also two private villas that can house up to five guests each. Perfect if you’re traveling with a family or group and want to all be together!

There’s an on-site restaurant that seems to be open for lunch only. No worries there though, since the location is so close to everything — including some of the best restaurants in Capri Italy. Each room booking also includes a daily continental breakfast, which so many of the guests have raved about on Booking.com!

On Booking.com Casa Morgano has a rating of “Wonderful 9.1”, and on Google it’s 4.5/5. TripAdvisor rates it one of the top 10 hotels in Capri.

Casa Mariantonia

If you’re looking for the best hotels in Capri but don’t quite want to splurge on 5 star, check out Casa Mariantonia. It’s a stunningly beautiful 4 star boutique hotel located on the Anacapri side of the island, right in the center. For more than a century it has been welcoming guests!

One of the things I love about Casa Mariantonia is that it is family-run. Specifically, by three great-grandchildren of Mariantonia, two brothers and a sister. Mariantonia - believe it or not - is the inventor of limoncello (seriously).

Speaking of limoncello, my favorite thing about Casa Mariantonia is the lemon groves. Have you ever seen anything more beautiful? The restaurant, La Zagara, is open daily for lunch and dinner and features authentic Capri cuisine. Even if you don’t stay here, a meal at La Zagara is a must!

As far as rooms go, there are nine of them. They seem to all be on the smaller side, ranging from almost 600 sq ft down to 200 sq ft. Many of them include private patios or terraces overlooking the sea and/or the lemon grove. Casa Mariantonia describes them as elegant, with a mixture of traditional Capri architecture and contemporary design.

On Booking.com Casa Mariantonia has a rating of “Wonderful 9.3” and on Google it is 4.5/5. TripAdvisor rates it as the #2 hotel in Anacapri.

Grand Hotel Quisisana

Next up, the Grand Hotel Quisisana! This was one recommended to me by my local friend. It is a 5 star hotel right in the center of Capri, just steps away from the famous Piazzetta. According to Booking.com, it’s located in the best area of the island. It’s been a member of The Leading Hotels of the World since 1986.

Onsite Hotel Quisisana has numerous restaurants, Quisi’s and Colombaia’s. Their Quisi Bar is at the entrance to Via Camerelle, a street world famous for its luxury shops and designer boutiques. A favorite amongst past famous guests like Oscar Wild and Ernest Hemingway!

Hotel Quisisana is the largest hotel on the island of Capri with 148 rooms in total. There’s also a luxury private villa with room for up to 6 guests. The suites have terraces with views of many tourist hotspots like the Faraglioni, the Charterhouse of San Giacomo and the Gardens of Augustus.

As far as amenities go, Hotel Quisisana has two pools: one inside and one out. There’s also a gym and a spa including a hair salon, massage offerings, beauty treatments, a sauna and Turkish bath, and more.

On Booking.com, Hotel Quisisana is rated “Wonderful 9.1” and on Google it is 4.7/5. TripAdvisor rates it in the top 25 hotels in Capri.

Hotel Excelsior Parco

Hotel Excelsior Parco is a 5 star luxury boutique hotel on the site of a former ancient Roman villa. It’s located on Via Marina Grande, halfway between the famous Piazzetta and the Marina Grande port.

Excelsior Parco has 11 rooms, many with outdoor jacuzzis and private sea-view terraces! In size they range from 516 sq ft (that’s including a 215 sq ft terrace) to 258 sq ft.

More than anything else, their food sounds right up my alley! Every dish is “based on a healthy diet” with a wide variety of options for those with special dietary restrictions. It’s also very eco-friendly, using organic, biodynamic, and local products “in the pursuit of a natural and conscious diet”. Everything is created to guarantee a healthy and balanced diet — truly music to my ears!

Breakfast includes an Italian and international buffet, along with an à la carte menu. Guests on Booking.com absolutely rave about it. You can eat it on the panoramic terrace or — very surprisingly — private in your room at no extra charge. No extra charge?! Never seen that before.

Lunch and dinner are available as well. They can be enjoyed in the garden, the living room, on the terrace, or in your room 24 hours a day free of charge.

From 8am to 10pm they offer a free hotel shuttle which can take you to the Piazzetta, the port and the beach of Marina Grande.

From the photos and the website it doesn’t seem all that unreal, but the reviews and awards say otherwise. On Booking.com, Hotel Excelsior Parco is rated “Exceptional 9.7” and on Google it is 4.9/5. TripAdvisor rates it as the #1 hotel in all of Capri.

Even further, of all the luxury hotels in Italy, it is rated #1 on the TripAdvisor Travelers’ Choice 2022 Awards. Of the most romantic hotels in the world, it was awarded #6 (#2 in Europe and #1 in Italy). In 2021 it was rated #1 for top small hotels in the world (#6 in 2022). Unbelievable!

Villa Brunella

Last but not least of our recommendations of where to stay in Capri Italy, Villa Brunella! Villa Brunella is a 4 star boutique hotel with absolutely glowing reviews!

Almost all rooms at Villa Brunella face the sea and/or the garden and have a private terrace or patio with tables and loungers. In total there are 20 rooms ranging from 194 sq ft to 430 sq ft.

Onsite there is a delicious looking restaurant, Terrazza Brunella, open to the public and rated 4.3/5 on Google. It features traditional Capri dishes made using fresh local ingredients and is open for both lunch and dinner.

There’s an outdoor pool, too, with sweeping views of the sea and Marina Piccola.

On Booking.com, Villa Brunella is rated “Wonderful 9.3” and on Google it is 4.8/5. TripAdvisor rates it as the #6 hotel in all of Capri.

What to do in Capri

  • Go on a photo tour of the island via vintage Fiat. The best way to see the island with a local and capture photos that you will cherish for the rest of your life! Cannot recommend this more. Click here to reserve your spot.

  • If the above tour is sold out, I recommend this photoshoot experience.

  • Grab an espresso or an aperitivo in the center square Piazzetta. A celebrity-packed meeting place for locals and visitors.

  • Shop on Via Camerelle, a street world famous for its luxury shops and designer boutiques. Also visit Via le Botteghe for more shopping.

  • Visit Belvedere Tragara, a scenic overlook facing the Faraglioni rock formations.

  • Visit Faro Di Punta Carena, a historic lookout point with cliffs and the Punta Carena lighthouse.

  • Visit the Gardens of Augustus (Giardini di Augusto), a popular botanical garden with sea views dating back to the early twentieth century. Also stop by Saint James’ Charterhouse, a 14th-century monastery, nearby.

  • Take the funicular to Mount Solaro for the best (and highest) panoramic views of the island.

  • Visit Villa San Michele, a highly rated villa museum full of ancient art.

  • Dance the night away at Taverna Anema e Core.

  • Go on a beaches + caves group kayaking tour. Click here to reserve your spot.

  • Go on a beaches + caves group stand-up paddle board tour. Click here to reserve your spot.

  • Take a cooking class (+ wine pairing) with a local. Learn to make Ravioli Capresi, a traditional Eggplant Parmesan, and a Caprese lemon cake. Click here to reserve your spot.

  • Go on a winery tour. Click here for more info.

  • Go boating, of course! There are a few different ones I recommend, depending on what you are looking for:

    • Private Gozzo Boat Island Tour. A three hour private tour on your own Gozzo boat. You will visit the Blue Grotto, as well as many other lesser-known hidden caves and rock formations. The best option.

    • 2 hour boat tour with happy hour. This is a group (shared) tour and doesn’t include a visit to the Blue Grotto due to the long wait times that entails. It is incredibly reasonably priced and highly rated!

    • Capri Island boat trip + Blue Grotto visit. The least expensive option available by far. If you want to see the Blue Grotto, this is a good choice. Note that the Blue Grotto entrance fee is not included in the price of this tour.

  • Relax at a beach club. There are countless options but most notably, in my opinion:

    • La Fontelina

    • Lido del Faro

    • Spiaggia Torre Saracena

    • La Canzone del Mare

    • Lo Scoglio Delle Sirene

    • Bagni Tiberio
