It is no secret around here that I love the Fairmont. I also happen to be a big fan of San Diego, so when the opportunity to visit the Fairmont Grand Del Mar presented itself, it was a match made in heaven!

I recently took the Le Club AccorHotels’ Seeker Project quiz which uses behavioral analytics and webcam enabled heart rate monitoring to get to the heart of your true travel desires. After answering a set of yes or no questions, my results said I was in need of relaxation and some warm weather. It specifically suggested San Diego and the Fairmont Grand Del Mar as a destination I should visit, so I flew down for a few days full of sunshine, pool time, and spa visits.

LOCATION

Fairmont Grand Del Mar is located in Southern California in San Diego. San Diego offers year-round sunshine, making it the perfect place to explore anytime of year! Situated in Del Mar just 20 miles north of downtown, it is close enough to see the sights but remote enough to enjoy a more secluded vacation if that is what you desire. Prior to arriving, a follower of my Facebook page commented that the resort is so lovely you don’t ever need to leave if you don’t want, and I could not agree more!

The resort is five miles from the Pacific Ocean, situated on 400 acres of land.

FOOD & DRINK

Fairmont Grand Del Mar offers six different dining options — everything from casual poolside snacks to elegant fine dining.

ADDISON — Fairmont Grand Del Mar’s signature restaurant! It is a contemporary French restaurant that combines local ingredients with Chef William Bradley’s artisanal approach to cooking. We didn’t have the chance to try it but it sounds wonderful!

AMAYA — a Californian meets Italian cuisine restaurant, open for breakfast, brunch, lunch, and dinner. The outdoor area offers views of the golf course and the Mediterranean-inspired property. We dined here for both breakfast and dinner and highly recommend it!

LOBBY LOUNGE — for more of a bar/lounge-y vibe, the Lobby Lounge offers expertly crafted cocktails along with light bites. There is often live entertainment and, at times, a mixologist on hand in the bar! We stopped here to enjoy some margaritas out on the balcony overlooking the garden and it was lovely.

THE CLUB HOUSE GRILL — located adjacent the golf course, this grill offers brunch, lunch, and dinner.

CENT’ANNI CAFE — a quick grab-and-go style cafe offering coffee, sandwiches, fresh juices, gelato, and more.

CLUB M — a sultry nightclub featuring live music and guest DJs.

THE SPA

The spa at Fairmont Grand Del Mar is one of only 60 Forbes Fix-Star spas in the world, making it a cannot miss experience while visiting the resort! It offers a comprehensive menu of treatments, including facials, massages, wraps, and more.

Before or after your treatment, you will also have access to other amenities like wet and dry saunas, indoor whirlpools, relaxation lounges, a relaxation pool, fitness center use, and hot teas, snacks, and chocolate.

I could not bear the thought of staying at the resort without visiting the spa and was lucky enough to make that dream a reality. I was first treated to a luminous facial, a complexion brightening and illuminating treatment. Mine specifically included a fair amount of massage as well and was such a treat.

After my facial I headed to the Haim Salon, also part of the spa, for a pedicure. Since I visited in October they recommended something extra special — a pumpkin spice pedicure! This included all things pumpkin spice, everything from a pumpkin scrub to pumpkin lotion to pumpkin spice cider to sip on.

If you find yourself here during pumpkin spice time, I highly recommend it. If not, I’d still inquire about their seasonal offerings while you are there as those are always extra fun in my opinion! Worst case scenario, a “normal” (non-seasonal) pedicure will still be great.
