The Best Restaurants in Positano (UPDATED 2024)

Looking for the best restaurants in Positano? We have got you covered! Restaurant hopping is one of the best things to do in Positano because there are so many beautiful venues to see and so much delicious food to be had!

For those of you who are new to ckanani.com, ciao! My name is Christie (click here if you want to stalk my TikTok) and I started visiting Positano in the summer of 2015. It was an unusually hot summer that year and it was a girls trip. There were four of us. I instantly fell madly in love with basically everything Positano and the Amalfi Coast has to offer — the dramatic landscapes, the food, and especially the people.

Right off the bat I developed close friendships with some incredibly lovely people who were born and raised in Positano. Seven years later I still keep in touch with many of them, some on an almost daily basis, and even travel to other cities to meet up with them.

But most of all I return to Positano as often as I can because no matter how many times I visit it is never enough. As John Steinbeck says, “Positano bites deep. It is a dream place that isn’t quite real when you are there and becomes beckoningly real after you have gone”. And bites deep it does!

One of the many perks of having close local friends is that even on years I’m not able to make it back to Positano, I have direct access to all of the best Positano info. Info that I can then relay back to you all! So basically you have close local Positano friends now, too.

And who knows better about the best restaurants in Positano than a handful of people born and raised there? No one!

This week I reached out to all of my best local friends for updates on all things Positano restaurant related to compile a comprehensive list. Some of the recommendations below are places I have personally dined at, the others come to you directly from my restaurant Positano expert friends!

So of all the restaurants in Positano, which are the best? Let’s get into it.

One quick note first: I am, above all else, a photographer, which is why ckanani.com is focused largely on beautiful imagery. As a traveler I tend to make a lot of decisions based on visuals which is another reason I generally provide way more images than the average blog.

However, Positano is a small remote village and the restaurants, for the most part, don't have professional photographers on hand. This means that some of the places below don't even have photos on their site, or if they do they might not be usable. So if you see a place below that doesn't have images or doesn't look like the most amazing place you've ever seen, you're gonna have to trust me (and trust my local friends). Some of the best, most authentic Positano Italy restaurants fall into this category!

The Best Positano Restaurants for Dinner

IL TRIDENTE

Il Tridente Restaurant and Cocktail Bar is located at Hotel Poseidon, one of my top recommendations for where to stay in Positano. The view from the panoramic terrace it sits on offers one of the most amazing views in Positano.

While they are open for breakfast, lunch, and dinner, I especially recommend dining here in the evening because the view makes it beyond magical at and near sunset. Once the sun goes down the tables are lit by a mixture of moonlight and candlelight, making it one of the most romantic restaurants in Positano.

Il Tridente is an Italian restaurant with pasta, seafood, meat dishes, and more, primarily using local ingredients. Vegetarian, vegan and gluten-free options are always available as well. The menu changes often, largely based on what is available locally! Translation: it is fresh.

If you're not yet hungry or you have other dinner plans but you like the sound of panoramic terrace, magical sunset views, and mixtures of moonlight and candlelight, stop by for a cocktail! I often do exactly that while I am visiting and find that it is the perfect place to kick off an unforgettable Positano evening.

HOURS: Breakfast from 7:30-10:30am, lunch from 12:15-2:30pm, dinner from 7-10:15pm, and cocktail bar from 6:30pm-1am (or all day for hotel guests)

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via Pasitea 140

RESERVATIONS: Reservations are required for both dining and visiting the bar and can be made 14 days in advance. To make reservations at Il Tridente, click here.

SARACENo D’ORO

Saraceno d'Oro is one of my very favorite Positano restaurants Italy! If you're looking for the best pizza in Positano and an authentic Positano dinner and experience, Saraceno d'Oro is for you.

Saraceno d'Oro is located in my favorite part of town, Fornillo. When you look at a map of Positano, you see the main Marina Grande beach right in the center. Around there and the area north of there is what I would consider the most touristy area. To the left of that is Fornillo, a more quiet area and one many visitors will miss!

It features Italian food and typical Mediterranean dishes with fresh pasta and local fish. My favorite is the wood oven pizza, don't miss it.

Open since 1964, it's run by the sweetest local family, the same one that owns my favorite b&b in town, Dimora del Podesta. The restaurant is located just below Dimora del Podesta, too, making it an incredibly easy visit if you are staying there. If Elia happens to be your server, tell him Christie sent you! He's the best.

Try to sit outside if possible. That area of Via Pasitea is so magical. There's mood lighting all over, great people watching, and often live music somewhere near by within earshot. Click here for a video showing exactly what the vibe is like.

None of the photos online that I’m permitted to use do it any justice, so just trust me. You will love Saraceno d’Oro, it is at the top of the list of best restaurants Positano Italy.

HOURS: Daily from 12-4pm, 6:30-11pm

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Via Pasitea 254

RESERVATIONS: Via phone at +39 089 812050 or you can DM them on Instagram @saracenodoro

Here’s a quick video about my Saraceno d’Oro:

@ckanani This is my number one Positano restaurant recommendation! Saraceno d’Oro. They are widely known as having the best pizza in Positano but the rest of their menu featuring Italian food and typical Mediterranean dishes is equally great. It’s family run by the sweetest local family. Make sure to specifically request a table outside, it’s in one of the most magical parts of Positano. Add it to your Positano itinerary immediately! #positanoitaly #positanothingstodo #positanorecs #amalficoast #positanotip #positanofood ♬ Bim Bom - João GIlberto

LA SPONDA

La Sponda at Le Sirenuse is without a doubt one of the most beautiful restaurants in Positano Italy. All of Le Sirenuse is flawless, in fact. But Michelin-starred La Sponda is not just home to a beautiful venue, but is also unquestionably one of the best restaurants in Positano. Possibly the best restaurant Positano.

No matter where you look, the reviews are glowing. On Google it is 4.6/5, on TripAdvisor 4.5/5, on Yelp 4.5/5, and on Facebook 4.9/5. It's (almost) five stars across the board -- from the impeccable service to the exceptional food to the best views of Positano any restaurant offers.

It is Mediterranean cuisine at its finest, made primarily using fresh, local ingredients. The La Sponda executive chef has been quoted saying that any chef worth their salt can do fancy, but the really difficult thing is to do simple.

Honestly all you need to know here is (1) it looks like the above photos and (2) it is Michelin-starred. Give it a visit.

HOURS: Lunch from 1-2:30pm, dinner from 7:30pm-late with last seating at 10:30pm

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via San Sebastiano 2

LA TAGLIATA

La Tagliata is a highly rated ristoranti Positano hidden way up in the hills in Montepertuso. Onsite is a large organic garden which is the primary source of food for their authentic cuisine! There's also an onsite farm. Talk about fresh and homemade.

The menu changes daily so you never know what you're gonna get. Instead, they bring out four to five courses from a fixed menu, expertly paired to perfection with wine.

Being so high up, the views are also something to write home about. It is definitely one of the best restaurants in Positano with a view. A unique view, at that! Most of the ones in town offer similar viewpoints but since La Tagliata is so high up it's quite distinct.

If you don't have a car, no worries. They will pick you up from your hotel and shuttle you to their restaurant in Montepertuso.

HOURS: Lunch from noon-3pm, dinner from 5-11pm

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via Tagliata 32b

RESERVATIONS: Via phone at (+39) 089 875 872

Il Ritrovo

Also in Montepertuso is Il Ritrovo. It offers similar views to La Tagliata, in a quaint corner way up in the hills. Il Ritrovo primarily serves seafood and Italian cuisine.

Like La Tagliata, they offer a free shuttle service that will come fetch you from your Positano hotel or b&b and back. A fantastic Positano restaurant option!

HOURS: Noon - 10pm

PRICING: €€-€€€

ADDRESS: Piazza Cappella 3

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Il Ritrovo, email info@ilritrovo.com.

@ckanani Wondering where to eat in the Amalfi Coast? This is one of the best Positano restaurants: Da Vincenzo. It’s one of the oldest restaurants in Positano, built literally into the Positano cliffside. The exposed stone interior is gorgeous. Great food, great vibes, highly recommend adding it to your Positano itinerary for dinner. #positanofood #positanothingstodo #positanotip #italypositano #italyplacestovisit #positanotravel #positanoitaly ♬ Che La Luna - Louis Prima

DA VINCENZO

Da Vincenzo is one of the oldest restaurants in Positano. Dating way back to 1958, the nephew of the original founder has since taken over.

The photos above are not doing it any justice, to be honest. The restaurant was literally built into the cliffside in Positano, so some of the interior includes exposed stone. It is quite beautiful and one of the top restaurants in Positano.

A group of my local friends took me here last time I visited and I was so overwhelmed with how wonderful the experience was that I forgot to take basically any photos. Of all the spots in Positano, this is where my friends decided to take me though, which in itself is saying a lot!

Google calls the menu "upscale Italian dining". As with most Positano spots, the menu will vary depending on local market and fish availability.

Tables at Da Vincenzo are available both inside and out. I almost never suggest eating inside but honestly at Da Vincenzo it's pretty beautiful inside with the exposed stone. It feels like you are eating inside a hidden cave. You can see what it’s like in the video above!

Wondering what the vibe is outside? Click here for a video showing that.

You can't go wrong here. Just make sure you make reservations in advance — it is popular.

HOURS: Lunch daily except Tuesdays from 12:15–2:30pm, dinner from 6:15–10.30pm

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via Pasitea 172/178

RESERVATIONS: Reservations are strongly encouraged and can be made two months in advance. To make reservations at Da Vincenzo, click here

MAESTRO

Maestro in Positano is the main restaurant at Villa TreVille. It offers unique views of Positano in that the hotel is situated not in the center of town, but in the distance towards Amalfi. If you’re hunting for great Positano restaurants with a view, look no further than Maestro.

One thing I like about Maestro is that the focus on simple, healthy foods. While traveling it can be hard to hunt down something healthy and eating out nonstop can be quite heavy. They have fresh fruits, fresh fruit juices, along with everything else one would expect (seafood, meat, pasta, vegetarian, etc.). Locally grown and seasonal ingredients, of course!

Maestro's is situated on a vine-covered open terrace with unreal panoramic views of the sea and of Positano. If nothing else, stop by for a drink for that reason alone.

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via Arienzo, 30

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Maestro’s, click here. As of now they are available six months in advance.

ZASS

Zass Positano is the Michelin-starred restaurant inside the beautiful 5 star Il San Pietro di Positano. Situated on an open air terrace overlooking the sea, it's a romantic and delicious place to enjoy an Italian dinner.

The view from Zass is of the town of Praiano, not Positano, which might make for a nice change from the other Positano restaurants. If not, it's worth it for the food alone.

The menu is Italian, with most of the ingredients coming from - you guessed it - their own organic garden or local growers and suppliers. The kitchen has a team of 32 cooks, which I found to be surprising!

HOURS: Dinner from 8-10pm

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via Laurito, 2

RESERVATIONS: Reservations can be made 30 days in advance at 9am local time. To make reservations at Zass, click here

CHEZ BLACK

Because I get an insane amount of questions via TikTok and Instagram about Chez Black, let’s talk about it. Chez Black is a very popular tourist hotspot located down on the main beach, i.e. in prime tourist territory.

I don’t know who is telling everyone to eat here, but I do not (in most cases) recommend eating anywhere on the main beach. The main beach is where 37,0000+ people come everyday as a day trip from Sorrento and other surrounding towns, as well as via cruise ship. Dining on the main Positano beach is like going to New York City and eating in Times Square. It just doesn’t make sense to me.

If you look at the rating of pretty much any spot on the main Positano beach on Google Maps you will see what I mean. Because like all tourist hotspots, they over-charge and under-deliver because they can. Because 37,000 people get dropped off at their doorstep everyday.

Despite being such a touristy town, Positano has soo many amazing restaurants. None of which are on the main beach. Because of that, unless you are staying in Positano for a month and have run out of restaurants to eat at, I do not personally recommend dining anywhere on the main beach.

But, on a more positive note, if you absolutely must eat in this area for whatever reason, then Chez Black is the place to do it. Before I finally went for myself, I reached out to one of my local friends to ask what the deal was with it. He said it's very casual, "not bad" (ha), and that they make a very nice pizza ("probably the best on the beach").

I finally went here during my last Positano trip, partly because a friend of mine from San Francisco had gone and loved it, but mostly because we quite literally could not get a reservation anywhere else. No exaggeration.

I will say, the vibe is definitely fun. It’s fast paced and a bit of a scene. Tons of people always. Lots of space too, so probably a good option if you have a large group. And the food was not as bad as I expected it to be, to be honest. It was good even. Not great, but good!

But still I would not recommend going out of your way to dine at Chez Black when there are dozens of better options. If you are deciding between Chez Black and anything else in this entire article, I recommend not Chez Black. Times Square!!

SIDE NOTE: I actually feel bad saying anything bad about Chez Black because the owner is incredibly nice and I love everything else their family owns in Positano. A lot of people love Chez Black so definitely feel free to go there if you feel inclined. I just personally believe there are much better options. Either way, make sure to support the family that owns it by visiting their other spots, all of which I recommend more! Like Music on the Rocks, Fly Lounge Bar, and Rada Beach Bistro.

HOURS: Daily from noon to midnight

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via del Brigantino 19

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Chez Black, click here

RISTORANTE BRUNO

Ristorante Bruno is a restaurant Positano one of my local friends suggested. It offers phenomenal views (from literally the side of the road) and good Italian food.

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via Cristoforo Colombo 157

RISTORANTE MEDITERRANEO

Another recommendation from my local friend, born and raised in Positano! I have been myself too but it was almost a decade ago. Specifically he said they have great seafood and live music every Friday. Tell them Peppe sent you!

HOURS: Daily from 12-11pm

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Via Pasitea 236 - 238

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Ristorante Mediterraneo, click here

RISTORANTE D’AIELLO

Another restaurant Positano suggestion, straight from the mouth of a local. Ristorante d’Aiello is located inside Hotel Savoia, is (clearly) gorgeous, and centrally located.

On TripAdvisor, after dozens of reviews, it has a rating of 5 out 5. On Google it’s 4.6 out of 5. Some of the highest I have seen in Positano!

It’s family run, now on their fourth generation. From the owners themselves, Ristorante d'Aiello “honors the ancient local culinary tradition and the immense sense of Italian hospitality".

I haven’t been yet, but the reviews and the suggestion from locals speak for themselves. If your server is Vito or Davide, tell them Peppe sent you.

HOURS: Daily from 6-10pm

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via Cristoforo Colombo 75

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Ristorante d’Aiello, email info@daiellopositano.it or call (+39) 089 875 003

The Best Positano Restaurants for Lunch

For lunch you'll find that most of my suggestions are beach-side, as I hope you'll find yourself at a beach during this time! The beaches in Positano are one of the best things to do in Positano, and naturally you'll need to eat at some point while there.

To watch a quick video from my TikTok about the best Positano restaurants for lunch, click here.

DA ADOLFO

Want to eat fresh seafood on the beach at one of the Amalfi Coast’s most iconic spots? Head to Da Adolfo. Da Adolfo is a famous seafood restaurant at Laurito Beach, available via free boat shuttle from the main Positano marina. It’s a can’t miss type of thing while visiting Positano and for lunch the best restaurant in Positano.

The Da Adolfo boat leaves the main Positano pier hourly from 10am to 1pm. Look for the boat with the red fish reading “Da Adolfo”. If you have any trouble, ask literally anyone for help — everyone knows Da Adolfo! Do note that the boat is available only for restaurant guests.

Once off the boat you can not only eat your delicious seafood, but they also offer beach services. You can book a beach bed, umbrella, use the showers, toilets, and changing rooms, and visit the bar.

If you’re looking for the best, most unique experience possible, Da Adolfo is definitely it!

HOURS: Daily from 10am-4pm

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Via Laurito 40

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Da Adolfo, call +39 089875022. You must make reservations via phone.

DA FERDINANDO

Da Ferdinando is a great Positano restaurant option at one of my favorite beaches, Fornillo Beach. Fornillo Beach is one of two beaches you can reach on foot from town (the other being the main Marina Grande beach), making it a lovely and easy place to spend a day.

There are a few dining options at Fornillo Beach, but Da Ferdinando is my favorite. I highly recommend spending a day at Fornillo Beach lounging around in the sun, having lunch at Da Ferdinando.

Click here to watch a quick video of the walk down to Fornillo Beach + what it’s like at Da Ferdinando.

HOURS: Daily from 9am-6:30pm.

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Spaggia di Fornillo

RESERVATIONS: Not necessary in my opinion, but you can call them at +39089875365 if desired

BAGNI ARIENZO BISTRO BAR

Arienzo Bistro Bar is the restaurant at the popular Arienzo Beach Club. Open at 10am, they offer free shuttle boat service every 30 minutes from 10 to 1pm.

At the moment it looks like the Arienzo Beach Club Restaurant can only be booked along with a beach club package, so you should plan on spending the entire day here! For more detailed information, visit my post on the best beach clubs in Positano.

HOURS: Daily from 10am-6pm

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via Arienzo 16

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Arienzo Beach Club, click here

RADA BEACH BISTROT

If you're in the mood for an upscale lunch, go for Rada Beach Bistrot. Rada is a high-end Italian restaurant at the end of the main beach, offering the best views of the Marina Grande beach and Positano.

ADDRESS: On Spiaggia Grande at Via Grotte Dell'incanto 51

CASA E BOTTEGA

Casa e Bottega is part design store, part healthy cafe. If you're anything like me and always on the hunt for vegetables and a green juice while on the road, this is an absolute must.

They offer salads, grain bowls, raw fish, fruit smoothies, fresh juices, and more. Not only is it open for lunch, but also for breakfast. We went for breakfast and it was absolutely delicious, so I imagine that same will be true for lunch!

HOURS: Tuesday through Sunday 9am-3:30pm

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Via Pasitea, 100

RESERVATIONS: Not necessary

The Best Positano Restaurants for an Aperitivo

Aperitivo is to Italians as happy hour is to Americans! Specifically, it’s a pre-dinner drink. The perfect way to unwind after a long day of exploring, have a little snack, watch the sunset, and kill sometime before dinner.

ALDO’S COCKTAIL BAR & SEAFOOD GRILL

Aldo’s Cocktail Bar and Seafood Grill at Le Sirenuse is a great place to grab a sunset aperitivo at. It has one of the best views in town and is the perfect way to kick off your Amalfi Coast holiday.

Due to its popularity, I would strongly suggest making reservations in advance. They specifically recommend making them at least two weeks in advance on their site. They do take walk-ins based on availability, but I wouldn’t chance it.

Dress code is smart casual.

HOURS: Daily from 7:00-late, with last seating at 10:30pm

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via San Sebastiano 2

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Aldo’s, click here

FRANCO’S BAR

Also nearby, don’t miss Franco’s Bar. Franco’s Bar Positano is a beautiful bar with an old-fashioned, quality-first drinks menu and one of the best views in town! It’s a popular spot even for locals — it’s many of my friends' favorite places.

Franco’s Bar is named after Don Francesco Saverio dei Marchesi Sersale, one of the four siblings who founded the glamorous Le Sirenuse hotel. According to their site, Franco’s Bar pays homage to his restless energy, his exquisite taste, his love of Positano’s cultured Mediterranean dolce vita.

Reservations are not permitted, as Franco’s operates on a first-come, first-served basis.

HOURS: Daily from 5:30pm-12:30am

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via Cristoforo Colombo 30

RESERVATIONS: Not permitted (first-come, first-served)

Click here for a quick video from my TikTok of my night at Franco’s Bar.

LI GALLI BISTRO

Li Galli Bistro has the best view in town, according to my friend who was born and raised there! It’s his first choice for an aperitivo, especially if you want something more casual.

2023 UPDATE: I went to Li Galli Bistro during my last Positano trip and absolutely loved it! We went for lunch but I imagine it’s also fantastic for a sunset aperitivo. It has one of the best views in all of Positano.

Click here to watch a video from my TikTok about Li Galli Bistro.

HOURS: Friday through Wednesday from 11am - 10pm.

PRICING: €€

ADDRESS: Via Cristoforo Colombo 207

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Li Galli Bistro, call (+39) 338 981 0710

FLY LOUNGE BAR

Fly Lounge Bar, located above my favorite Music on the Rocks, is another good option. Offering arguably the best views of the main beach and mixologist-crafted cocktails, it’s open everyday from 7pm to 1am.

HOURS: Daily from 7pm-1am

PRICING: €€€€

ADDRESS: Via Grotte dell'Incanto 51

RESERVATIONS: To make reservations at Fly Lounge Bar, call (+39) 089 875874

SKY BAR

Sky Bar at the Eden Roc Hotel is a spot one of my local friends suggested I list for those looking for a more casual spot (compared to spots like Franco's and Aldo's). According to the photos, it has spectacular sunset views!

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Eden Roc Hotel, Via G. Marconi, 110

LE PETIT MURAT

Le Petit Murat is a popular Positano restaurant and bar inside the stunning Hotel Palazza Murat, a 4 star hotel right in the center of Positano. So central that it is just a 2 minute walk from the main beach! It is family-run by the fifth generation of the family to do so.

In the hotel, Le Petit Murat is located in a magical courtyard, as you can see in the nighttime photos above. It provides phenomenal views of town and of the church dome.

Arguably best of all, after dozens of reviews on TripAdvisor, it has a unanimous 5 star rating.

PRICING: €€€

ADDRESS: Via dei Mulini 23
