Hotels in Interlaken Switzerland: Victoria-Jungfrau Grand Hotel & Spa

Looking for the best hotels in Interlaken Switzerland? Of all the places to stay, the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa is by far the best!

I just returned from a few weeks in Switzerland with Switzerland Tourism, filled with countless adventures which you hopefully followed along with on Instagram.  One of the many stops on our trip was Interlaken, a wonderful city which landed a permanent spot on my “favorite places of all time” list after I first visited in 2014.  We only had one night in town before heading up the mountain to Grindelwald, during which we were lucky enough to stay at the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa.

Our itinerary in Interlaken was non-stop since we only had one day there, and I found myself loving the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa so much that I wanted to return to spend more time there and get the true VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU experience.  I also knew after the first night at the hotel that all of you would love it, as it’s one of the most beautiful places I have ever stayed, so I knew I needed to go back to photograph it and see the parts I missed in order to document it for you here! Luckily once my project with Switzerland Tourism wrapped up I had a few free days and the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa graciously welcomed me back.

Round two at the hotel was equally as lovely and now I can say without a doubt that you absolutely must stay here when visiting Interlaken.  You would be doing yourself a huge disservice to not, seriously.  I have a hunch that the photos and info below will speak for itself, so here is everything you need to know about this marvelous hotel:

ABOUT THE VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU GRAND HOTEL & SPA

The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa is a jaw-dropping, 5 star hotel located in Interlaken, a resort town in the Bernese Highlands of Switzerland.  It is home to more than 200 rooms and suites, two restaurants, two bars, and a 5,500-square-meter spa.

LOCATION

The town of Interlaken lies between Lake Brienz and Lake Thun in the Swiss canton of Bern, below the mountains of Eiger, Monch, and Jungfrau.  It is a popular tourist destination and just so happens to be one of my favorite places in the world!

While there are many hotels in Interlaken Switzerland, the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa is by far the best. It is located at Hoheweg 41, right across from the Hoheweg Park, a large grassy area where you’ll see many paragliders landing each hour.  From Interlaken Ost train station it is an easy, entirely flat 10-15 minute walk, or around a 4 minute drive should you choose to arrange a ride instead.

Note: if you need a lift, you can reach their concierge at concierge@victoria-jungfrau.ch.

ADDRESS: HÖHEWEG 41, CH-3800 INTERLAKEN

HISTORY

I mentioned this in my post about the Fairmont San Francisco also, but I’m a bit of history lover, even more so when it comes to Europe.  The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa has been around for more than 150 years - since 1856!  Since then it has expanded many times, with the addition of the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU SPA in 1991, the addition of a conference zone in 2002, and more.  In my room next to my bed there was a beautiful book about the history of the hotel which I found very interesting and lovely to read.  If you have the time while visiting, check it out!

ACCOMODATION

The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa has 216 rooms, 106 of which are suites.  Rooms start at 21-square-meters for a Superior Room and go all the way up to 215-square-meters in the ultra luxurious Tower Suite.  If you are like me and room view is of high importance, you’re in luck! Their site tells you for each room type what the view will be.

I stayed in a Deluxe Room which is what all of the above photos are of.  It was 25-square-meters (very spacious) with a beautiful view of Jungfrau, a king bed, seating area, desk, and a large bathroom.  It also had a balcony which I enjoyed my coffee on (there’s an in-room Nespresso maker) and would’ve loved to eat breakfast from had I not been so interested in checking out La Terrasse!

FOOD & DRINK

The restaurants and bars at the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa are, not surprisingly, equally as beautiful as the rest of the hotel and with amazing food.

La Terrace features Mediterranean, South of France-insired food with regional Swiss influence.  The venue itself was my favorite in-hotel, with palm trees all over and pink and gold accents.  La Terrasse is also where breakfast is served, with an incredibly impressive spread including everything under the sun, in the prettiest buffet presentation I have ever seen.

Ristorante e Pizzeria Sapori is new, serving Italian prepared thoughtfully and with the best ingredients.  We had a divine lunch here with Nathalie from Interlaken Tourism and I highly recommend trying it out!

During the warmer months there is also Victoria Terrace, an outdoor terrace with views of Jungfrau and town.  Open daily and year-round is Victoria Bar, perfect for drinks and snacks to the tune of a pianist who starts each night at 6pm.

SPA NESCENS

If the above info has not yet convinced you to visit the VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa - brace yourself.  The Spa Nescens is reason enough alone to visit, truly.  The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU site humbly refers to it as “one of the most beautiful [spas] in Switzerland” but I would be shocked to discover there’s anything that even comes close to it.

Spa Nescens opened in 1991, offering facials, massages, nutrition and coaching, and so much more. It is certainly not your average spa, drawing on "the scientific and medical expertise of the Nescens brand stemming from the Center for the Prevention of Aging at the Clinique de Genolier (Switzerland)”.   It features the very best everything, with the ultimate goal of living better longer.  If you are an adventurer like I am and are in town to do some outdoor activities, I would highly recommend treating yourself to a treatment or two after.

Before, after, or instead of a treatment, do not miss the spa facilities, including arguably the most amazing pool I have ever seen, a sauna, steam room, quiet room (loved this!), and fitness center.  There is also a Spa Bistro where you can grab fresh juice, coffee, and light bites - all while in your bathrobe!

The VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa also has 22 conference and banqueting rooms, perfect for meetings, conferences, or events.

Very special thanks to the stunning VICTORIA-JUNGFRAU Grand Hotel & Spa for sponsoring my stay (twice)!  All of the above is, as always, my own opinion.
