The Ultimate Carry-On Packing Guide
Now that you know how to organize your carry-on to ensure you never forget something, let’s talk about what to actually pack in that carry-on!
When I’m on a long-haul flight my items are a bit more elaborate than a short trip, so of course modify my recommendations below based on factors like that.
SKINCARE, COSMETICS, LIQUIDS
HAND CREAM — like this to avoid dry hands!
EYE CREAM — especially on a long-haul flight. Under eyes are sensitive and need moisture! I keep this oil stick in my Truffle Clarity Clutch at all times. It works great for under eyes PLUS anywhere else you might need some extra nourishment.
FACIAL SPRAY — again for hydration. This essence mist is the best because it contains fermented yeast extract which delivers vitamins, amino acids, and minerals to actually refresh, renew, and rejuvenate skin! Get 20% off your first Soko Glam purchase HERE
FACE MASK — especially on a long-haul flight. My recommendation is this Summer Fridays Jet Lag Mask because the container is perfect for travel, it’s ultra-nourishing, and doesn’t look crazy on. You can even apply it before heading to the airport under your makeup if you must travel with makeup on!
REUSABLE WATER BOTTLE — to fill up before your flight. This Hydro Flask is the best and worth the investment.
CASHMERE WRAP OR SCARF — I always bring a cashmere scarf or wrap on all trips because I consider it an absolute essential. I actually carry one in my purse at all times. You never know when you’ll need an extra layer on a cold plane, train, or something else. Here’s a great option!
SUNGLASSES — for once you hop off the flight! Three timeless styles I’ve been wearing non-stop: Quay aviators (I have numerous pairs), these round Ray-Bans, and these black on black Ray-Bans that are often hard to track down because they sell out consistently.
SNACKS — bars (I like Larabar, RXBAR and Quest), nuts (I like raw cashews or almonds), popcorn (SkinnyPop or Smartfood), GG crackers (fiber!), Liquid IV, probiotic (ok not a snack but important still).
TO SURVIVE A LONG-HAUL FLIGHT
NECK PILLOW — I prefer one that you blow up because it takes up way less space.
EAR PLUGS — if you are sensitive to sound. I’m not but I still carry these in my TRUFFLE clutch just in case (I’m a Virgo, gotta be prepared!)
LAVENDER OIL — not absolutely necessary, but I travel with a rollerball of lavender oil to help me sleep and because it’s calming and doesn’t take up much space so why not?!
SILK SLEEP MASK — to block out the light! I use this one on the plane and in the hotel especially if I am traveling with someone who wants to stay up later than I do. Silk is anti-aging and great for your skin which is why it must be silk! Here’s a less expensive option if needed.
CLEANSING AND REFRESHING ESSENTIALS
HAND SANITIZER — specifically this one because it’s plant-based and all natural.
SANITIZING WIPE — to wipe your seat and keep yourself/everything clean. I recommend these essential oil cleansing towelettes.
CLEANSING CLOTHS — like these for long travel days.
DEODORANT — I use this one.
MINTS OR GUM
TOOTHBRUSH — like these Colgate Wisps to use once you land. DO NOT use the water in the bathroom on the plane!
TRAVEL PERFUME — I always pick the free perfumes samples when making a purchase on Sephora online so I can throw one in my TRUFFLE clutch!
PASSPORT — I bring this even when traveling in the US because a backup to your ID is never a bad idea!
DEBIT AND CREDIT CARDS
ITINERARY, CONTRACT, ETC.
WHAT TO WEAR
COMFORTABLE LEGGINGS — these high waist Alo ones are the very best!
SNEAKERS — these M. Gemi ones are life changing. Really. More info: The Most Comfortable And Stylish Walking Shoes for Travel
CARDIGAN — since buying this Barefoot Dreams cardigan I haven’t worn anything else on any flight (and I travel full time)!
